Trout Unlimited Added to our Growing List of Partners
On November 2, the Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Overmountain Chapter of Trout Unlimited to promote fishing and the development of fisheries in Carter County. We will be working with them soon to introduce more people to fishing and to remediate and improve our county’s creeks and rivers. The good gets even better!
Trout Unlimited joins a growing list of MOU partners. In no particular order:
- The Lee and Lois Herndon Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society (the Herndon Birders) for the promotion of birding.
- The Southern Off-road Bicycle Association (SORBA) for the promotion of mountain biking.
- The Elizabethton Parks & Recreation Board for the establishment of multi-use sports facilities centered around baseball and softball.
- The Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (the RiverAPEs) for the promotion of whitewater paddling sports.
- Roan Mountain Recreation Foundation for the operation and improvement of Roan Mountain Community Park.
- The Back Country Horsemen of East Tennessee for the promotion of horse riding.
- The Carter County Hunting and Fishing Association for the promotion of shooting sports.
Elizabethton Parks & Rec is also a partner in several of these agreements.
Partnering with organizations like these is central to our approach for establishing and operating parks and recreational activities. We can’t do it without them! If you know of a group that would be interested in working with us, please contact us.
